The Dangers of Head-On Collisions
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of motor vehicle accidents due to the force of impact between vehicles traveling in opposite directions.
Common causes include:
- Loss of vehicle control
- Speeding
- Distracted or impaired driving
- Driving off the roadway and overcorrecting
These crashes often result in catastrophic or fatal injuries.
Legal Considerations in Cross-Lane Crashes
When a driver crosses into oncoming traffic, liability is often a central issue.
Investigators may examine:
- Why the driver lost control
- Speed and road conditions
- Possible distraction or impairment
- Vehicle condition or mechanical issues
Determining negligence is critical in evaluating legal responsibility.
Wrongful Death Claims Under Florida Law
Under Florida’s Wrongful Death Act, Florida Statutes §§ 768.16–768.26, families who lose a loved one in a crash may be entitled to pursue compensation.
Damages may include:
- Funeral and burial expenses
