West Palm Beach Man Dies After Tragic Crash at Beeline Highway and North Haverhill Road

Michael T. Flanagan, Esq.

A devastating crash at a busy West Palm Beach intersection has claimed the life of a 59-year-old man, authorities confirmed this week. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) is actively investigating the two-vehicle collision that occurred on Saturday, June 29, 2025, at the intersection of Beeline Highway and North Haverhill Road.

According to PBSO, the crash occurred at approximately 4:48 p.m. when Christopher Du Prey, a West Palm Beach resident, was driving a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe westbound on Beeline Highway. He was attempting to make a left turn onto North Haverhill Road when his vehicle was struck by an eastbound 2016 GMC Sierra SLE driven by 34-year-old Dustin Kintz of Stuart, Florida.

Both vehicles collided in the intersection. The force of the crash caused significant damage to both vehicles, which came to rest at the scene. Emergency responders rushed all individuals involved to St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Despite efforts by trauma care teams, Christopher Du Prey succumbed to his injuries in the early morning hours of July 1, 2025, just two days after the collision. His next of kin were promptly notified by authorities.

The GMC driver, Dustin Kintz, and his 6-year-old passenger, Colton Kintz, sustained only minor injuries and were treated and released.

As of now, PBSO’s Traffic Homicide Division is leading the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be factors in the crash. The exact cause and any potential citations or liability will be determined following the completion of the official investigation.

Tragic accidents like this raise important questions about liability, particularly in left-turn scenarios, which are a common cause of fatal and serious injury crashes across Florida.

Under Florida traffic law, a driver turning left at an intersection must yield the right of way to oncoming traffic that is close enough to present an immediate hazard. If the turn is not executed safely, and an accident occurs, the turning driver is typically found at fault—even if they had a green light—unless there is evidence the other vehicle was speeding or failed to obey traffic signals.

That said, each case must be evaluated individually based on vehicle speed, timing of the turn, visibility, and potential distractions or mechanical issues.

Filing a Wrongful Death Claim After a Fatal Car Accident

In cases where a driver is killed due to the actions, or inactions, of another motorist, Florida law provides a path for surviving family members to pursue justice and compensation through a wrongful death claim.

A wrongful death claim is a civil lawsuit that may be brought when a person’s death is caused by the negligence, recklessness, or intentional actions of another party. In the context of a car accident, this typically involves situations where a driver failed to exercise reasonable care, resulting in a crash that caused fatal injuries.

Wrongful death claims are separate from any criminal charges that may be filed. They are focused on providing financial support to surviving family members and holding the negligent party accountable in civil court.

Surviving spouses, children, and sometimes parents may be eligible to seek compensation for:

  • Medical expenses related to the injury
  • Funeral and burial costs
  • Loss of future earnings and support
  • Pain and suffering
  • Loss of companionship and emotional guidance

Florida has a strict statute of limitations on wrongful death lawsuits. Surviving family members typically have only two years from the date of death to file a claim. If the deadline is missed, the right to compensation may be permanently lost.

Additionally, crucial evidence like crash scene photos, vehicle damage, and witness statements can disappear over time. That’s why contacting a knowledgeable wrongful death attorney as soon as possible is critical to building a strong case.
