Venice Man Dies After Losing Control of Dirt Bike on U.S. 41

A 28-year-old Venice man died early Friday morning after losing control of a dirt bike while riding along U.S. 41 in Sarasota County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The August 14, 2026 crash occurred along Tamiami Trail and remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit.

What We Know About the Fatal Venice Dirt Bike Crash

According to FHP, the crash occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. on U.S. 41, also known as Tamiami Trail, north of East Baffin Drive in Venice.

Troopers said the 28-year-old man was riding a 2008 Honda CRF motorcycle northbound on the east sidewalk of Tamiami Trail.

For reasons that remain under investigation, the rider was unable to maintain control of the motorcycle and fell to the ground.

The man suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not publicly released the rider’s identity.
