Two Teens Killed, Five Others Injured in Crash in Santa Rosa County
A devastating crash in Milton, Florida has left two teenagers dead and five others injured following a late-night collision at an intersection in Santa Rosa County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash involved multiple young occupants and resulted in severe injuries, highlighting the dangers of high-impact intersection collisions.
What We Know About the Crash
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:25 p.m. on April 25, 2026, at the intersection of Cornfield Way and American Farms Road in unincorporated Milton.
Troopers say a pickup truck carrying six occupants was traveling east on Cornfield Way, while an SUV with one driver was traveling north on American Farms Road.
The two vehicles collided in the intersection.
Following the impact, the pickup truck struck trees and overturned.
Two occupants of the pickup truck—a 19-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man—were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Injuries Reported
The crash left several others seriously injured:
- A 19-year-old woman in the pickup truck suffered critical injuries
- Three additional occupants of the truck, including two passengers ages 18 and 19 and the 20-year-old driver, sustained serious injuries
- The 57-year-old driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries
All individuals involved were reported to be from the Milton area.
The Dangers of Intersection Collisions
Intersection crashes are among the most common and dangerous types of accidents, particularly at night.
These collisions often occur due to:
- Failure to yield the right of way
- Limited visibility in low-light conditions
- Speeding or delayed reaction time
- Misjudging another vehicle’s path
When combined with multiple passengers, the risk of severe injury or death increases significantly.
Ejection Risk and Vehicle Safety
Being ejected from a vehicle dramatically increases the likelihood of fatal injuries.
Ejection can occur when:
- Seat belts are not used
- The force of impact is severe
- A vehicle overturns
Seat belt use remains one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of fatal injuries in crashes.
Legal Considerations in Multi-Vehicle Crashes
Crashes involving multiple vehicles and occupants often require detailed investigation.
Authorities may examine:
- Right-of-way at the intersection
- Speed and driver behavior
- Roadway design and signage
- Whether any traffic violations occurred
Determining liability is essential for both criminal and civil proceedings.
Wrongful Death and Injury Claims
Under Florida’s Wrongful Death Act, Florida Statutes §§ 768.16–768.26, families who lose loved ones in crashes may be entitled to pursue compensation.
Injury victims may also seek damages for:
- Medical expenses
- Lost wages
- Pain and suffering
- Long-term rehabilitation
Cases involving multiple victims can be complex and require careful evaluation.
Investigation Ongoing
A Traffic Homicide Unit from the Florida Highway Patrol is conducting a comprehensive investigation into the crash.
