Two Men Killed in Early Morning I-95 Crash in Boynton Beach
Two men in their 30s were killed in a tragic early morning crash on Interstate 95 North in Boynton Beach after their vehicle lost control and overturned, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The fatal collision occurred just after 5:45 a.m. Monday near Boynton Beach Boulevard.
Investigators say a white 2007 Chevy Trailblazer was traveling northbound in the inside lane of I-95 when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol:
- The SUV was driven by a 31-year-old Lake Worth man
- A 38-year-old Boynton Beach man was in the passenger seat
- Skid marks on the roadway indicate the vehicle drifted onto the left shoulder
- The driver then swerved back into the inside lane, losing control
- The SUV veered across the roadway into the right shoulder
- The vehicle struck a metal guardrail and overturned
The violent impact caused the passenger to be fully ejected from the vehicle and thrown onto the roadway.
Emergency responders transported both occupants to the hospital following the crash.
- The driver was pronounced dead at Delray Medical Center
- The passenger also died from his injuries
Authorities said both victims were men in their 30s. Their names have not yet been released pending notification of family members.
Common Causes of Loss-of-Control Highway Crashes
Crashes involving a loss of vehicle control can occur suddenly and often result in severe or fatal injuries, particularly at highway speeds. When a vehicle begins to skid or veer across lanes, drivers may overcorrect, leading to rollovers or collisions with barriers.
Common contributing factors in loss-of-control crashes include:
- Speeding
- Driver fatigue or distraction
- Sudden evasive maneuvers
- Mechanical issues or tire failure
- Wet or uneven roadway conditions
- Failure to maintain lane position
Rollover crashes and ejection incidents are especially dangerous and often result in catastrophic injuries or fatalities.
Ongoing Investigation
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash to determine whether any additional factors contributed to the loss of control.
Investigators typically examine:
- Vehicle condition and maintenance
- Speed and roadway evidence
- Toxicology reports
- Witness statements and surveillance footage
- Road and weather conditions at the time of the crash
Additional details may be released as the investigation progresses.
Legal Options After a Fatal Car Accident in Florida
When a fatal crash occurs, surviving family members may have legal rights depending on the circumstances of the accident. If negligence, roadway hazards, or vehicle defects played a role, a wrongful death claim may be possible.
A wrongful death case may help families recover compensation for:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Loss of financial support
- Loss of companionship
- Medical expenses prior to death
- Emotional pain and suffering
Determining liability in fatal crash cases often requires a thorough independent investigation.
