Two Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 231 in Bay County, FHP Says

The Florida Highway Patrol has released new details about a fatal three-vehicle crash that claimed two lives Thursday afternoon on U.S. Highway 231 in Bay County.

According to investigators, the crash began when a Tesla attempted to pass another vehicle, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided with an SUV traveling in the opposite direction. The violent chain-reaction crash left two people dead and four others injured.

What We Know About the Crash

The crash occurred on the afternoon of June 25, 2026, near Lindsey Crossing on U.S. Highway 231 in Bay County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol:

• A Tesla and a Chevrolet Tahoe were traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 231.
• The Tesla attempted to pass the Tahoe.
• During the passing maneuver, the Tesla struck the Tahoe.
• The impact caused the Tahoe to spin across the grassy median.
• The Tesla crossed into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a Cadillac Escalade.

Following the collision:

• The Tahoe came to rest in the center median.
• The Escalade overturned and landed on its roof.
• The Tesla came to rest on the east shoulder of the highway.

The driver and passenger inside the Tesla were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe was not injured.

The driver of the Cadillac Escalade and two passengers sustained minor injuries, while a third passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported for medical treatment.
