Two Drivers Killed in Head-On Crash on State Road 73 in Calhoun County

Two men were killed Tuesday afternoon in a head-on collision on State Road 73 in Calhoun County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with an SUV. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

What Happened in the Calhoun County Crash?

According to FHP, the fatal crash occurred on August 11, 2026, on State Road 73 near Northwest Pond View Drive.

A pickup truck driven by a 30-year-old man was traveling northbound on State Road 73.

At the same time, an SUV driven by a 55-year-old Crawfordville man was traveling southbound.

According to the preliminary investigation, the pickup crossed into the opposing lane of traffic and entered the SUV’s path.

The two vehicles then collided head-on.

Both drivers suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the crash scene.

Authorities have not publicly released their identities.

Why Did the Pickup Cross Into Oncoming Traffic?

FHP has not yet announced what caused the driver to leave his lane.
