A teenage girl was hospitalized Wednesday morning after being struck by a car while riding a scooter in Oakland Park.

The September 2, 2026 crash happened near Northwest 5th Avenue and West Prospect Road shortly before 7:15 a.m.

Officials said the teenager was initially transported to a local hospital as a level-one trauma patient. The Broward Sheriff’s Office later reported that her injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Footage from the scene showed a Toyota sedan with significant windshield damage and a scooter lying nearby. The driver remained at the scene and told reporters that she had a green light and attempted to avoid the teenager before the collision.
