Rollover Crash on I-75 Near Clark Road Causes Major Delays, At Least One Injured

Michael T. Flanagan, Esq.

A rollover crash on Interstate 75 caused significant traffic delays Wednesday afternoon in Sarasota County and left at least one person injured, according to authorities.

The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of I-75 near Clark Road, one of the area’s busiest highway corridors.

Emergency crews responded to the crash Wednesday afternoon after reports of a vehicle rollover on the interstate.

According to initial reports:

  • At least one person was injured in the crash
  • One vehicle overturned and landed on its side in the median area between the northbound and southbound lanes
  • Two northbound lanes were blocked as crews worked to clear the scene

Drivers experienced significant delays, including:

  • Approximately 30-minute delays northbound
  • Around 20-minute delays southbound

Traffic eventually began to move again once first responders secured the scene and cleared the wreckage.

Authorities later confirmed that all lanes have since reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.

Rollover crashes are among the most dangerous types of vehicle accidents, particularly on high-speed roadways like I-75.

Vehicles may overturn due to:

  • Sudden steering maneuvers
  • High-speed collisions
  • Tire blowouts
  • Impact with another vehicle
  • Loss of control during lane changes

When a vehicle rolls over, occupants face an increased risk of serious injuries such as traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and fractures.

Determining Liability in Rollover Accidents

While some rollover crashes occur due to driver error, others may involve negligence by another motorist or unsafe roadway conditions.

Investigators may evaluate factors including:

  • Vehicle speed and lane changes
  • Whether another vehicle caused the rollover
  • Roadway hazards or debris
  • Tire or vehicle mechanical failures

Evidence such as vehicle damage, surveillance footage, and crash reconstruction may help determine how the rollover occurred.

Victims injured in rollover crashes may be entitled to compensation for:

  • Emergency medical care
  • Hospitalization and rehabilitation
  • Lost wages
  • Pain and suffering
  • Future medical treatment

Because highway crashes often involve multiple vehicles and complex liability issues, a thorough investigation is often necessary to protect the rights of those injured.

Authorities continue to investigate the rollover crash on I-75 near Clark Road in Sarasota County.
