Rollover Crash in Coral Springs Leaves One Person Injured
A serious rollover crash in Coral Springs Tuesday night left one person injured and temporarily shut down a busy roadway as police investigated the scene.
According to Coral Springs Police, the crash occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. near the intersection of Rock Island Road and Northwest 40th Street.
When officers arrived, they found a black vehicle overturned on its roof after striking a tree. The impact was severe enough that the vehicle reportedly split in half, highlighting the violent nature of the collision.
Police confirmed that the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The driver was transported to Broward Health North with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities. No additional injuries were reported.
Law enforcement temporarily blocked off the area while investigators examined the crash scene, documented vehicle damage, and worked to determine what caused the driver to lose control. The roadway has since reopened.
At this time, police have not released information regarding potential contributing factors such as speed, impairment, distraction, or roadway conditions. The investigation remains ongoing.
Rollover crashes are among the most dangerous types of motor vehicle accidents. They often occur when a vehicle:
- Strikes a fixed object such as a tree or curb
- Overcorrects after leaving the roadway
- Travels at excessive speed
- Encounters uneven road surfaces
These crashes can result in severe injuries, including head trauma, spinal cord injuries, internal organ damage, and fractures, even when seatbelts are worn.
