One Killed, Three Injured in Rollover Crash on Southern Boulevard Near Palm Beach International Airport
A rollover crash near Palm Beach International Airport Sunday evening left one person dead and three others injured, according to authorities.
The crash occurred around 5:13 p.m. on March 8 in the westbound lanes of Southern Boulevard near Perimeter Road, just outside Palm Beach International Airport.
Emergency crews from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to the scene, where they found a severely damaged SUV overturned in the roadway.
According to a crash report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit, a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling westbound on Southern Boulevard when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Investigators say the driver, 32-year-old Bradley J. Wloczewski of West Palm Beach, drifted over the right curb and onto a portion of the sidewalk before sharply steering back into the roadway.
Authorities reported that the SUV then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to rotate and slide over the northern curb and sidewalk.
The Tahoe subsequently struck a metal guardrail, overturned, and ejected the driver and one passenger from the vehicle.
Wloczewski was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers were inside the SUV at the time of the crash:
- A 29-year-old woman from West Palm Beach, who sustained minor injuries and was wearing a seatbelt
- A 28-year-old woman from Hendersonville, Tennessee, who suffered serious injuries
Both were transported to a local trauma center for treatment.
In addition, debris from the crash struck another vehicle. Investigators say a section of the damaged guardrail flew into a 2025 Volvo SUV driven by a 41-year-old West Palm Beach man, who sustained minor injuries.
The crash caused major traffic delays as westbound lanes of Southern Boulevard were closed for several hours while investigators documented the scene.
Authorities reported finding the SUV overturned with one victim already ejected when first responders arrived.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit remains actively investigating the crash.
The Dangers of Rollover Crashes
Rollover crashes are among the most dangerous types of vehicle accidents, often resulting in severe injuries or fatalities.
Vehicles may overturn when:
- Drivers lose control and overcorrect steering
- A vehicle strikes a curb, guardrail, or roadside object
- Sudden steering maneuvers cause instability
- Speed or roadway conditions contribute to loss of control
Occupants who are not wearing seatbelts face a significantly higher risk of ejection, which dramatically increases the likelihood of fatal injuries.
Potential Legal Considerations After Serious Crashes
Even when a crash initially appears to involve driver error, investigators may evaluate whether other factors contributed to the incident.
Potential contributing issues may include:
- Roadway design or maintenance problems
- Guardrail or barrier failures
- Vehicle defects or mechanical failures
- Debris hazards or roadway obstructions
When crashes involve multiple vehicles and injuries, liability issues can become complex and may require detailed accident reconstruction.
In cases involving fatal crashes, surviving family members may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim if negligence by another party contributed to the incident.
