One of the vehicles flipped over during the crash.
Authorities temporarily closed all lanes of South Roscoe Boulevard while law enforcement and emergency crews worked at the scene.

One Person Transported With Minor Injuries
St. Johns County Fire Rescue reported that one person was transported from the crash scene with minor injuries.
No additional information was released about the injured person’s condition or which vehicle the person occupied.
Although authorities described the injuries as minor, rollover accidents can involve significant forces. Some crash-related injuries may also become more apparent in the hours or days following a collision.
What Can Cause a Vehicle to Flip During a Crash?
The fact that a vehicle overturned does not, by itself, establish what caused the collision or who was responsible.
Rollover crashes can occur under a variety of circumstances. Investigators may examine the vehicles’ speeds and directions of travel, the angle and location of impact, steering or braking immediately before the collision, roadway conditions and whether either vehicle left its intended lane.
Authorities had not released enough information to determine what caused the South Roscoe Boulevard crash.
Determining Liability After a Two-Vehicle Crash
When two vehicles collide, determining liability generally requires examining the conduct of both drivers immediately before the crash.
Florida drivers have a duty to operate their vehicles with reasonable care and comply with applicable traffic laws. Depending on the circumstances, investigators may examine whether a driver failed to yield, made an unsafe lane change, followed another vehicle too closely, drove at an unsafe speed or otherwise contributed to the collision.
None of those factors has been identified as a cause of this crash.
If evidence eventually establishes that one driver’s negligence caused another person’s injuries, the injured person may have the right to pursue compensation under Florida law.
Florida’s Comparative Fault Law
Some crashes involve conduct by more than one driver.
Florida Statute § 768.81 addresses comparative fault in negligence cases. Depending on the circumstances, responsibility for an accident can be allocated among multiple parties based on their respective shares of fault.
This can make evidence particularly important when drivers provide conflicting accounts of how a collision happened.
An investigation may help establish each vehicle’s position, direction of travel and movements immediately before impact.
Evidence After a Rollover Accident
Evidence from the scene can help investigators reconstruct a rollover crash and determine how the vehicle overturned.
Potential evidence may include:
- Photographs and videos of the crash scene
- Vehicle damage and final resting positions
- Witness statements
- Nearby surveillance or traffic-camera footage
- Tire marks, debris and roadway evidence
- Event data recorder information, when available
- Law enforcement and emergency response records
When businesses or residences near a crash have surveillance systems, obtaining footage quickly can be important because recordings may eventually be overwritten.
Compensation After a Florida Car Accident
People injured because of another driver’s negligence may be able to seek compensation for losses resulting from the accident.
Depending on the severity of the injuries and circumstances of the case, recoverable damages may include medical expenses, future medical treatment, lost income, diminished earning capacity, pain and suffering, and other legally recognized losses.
Florida’s no-fault automobile insurance system can also affect how medical expenses are initially covered following an accident.
The existence and value of any personal injury claim depend on the specific facts of the collision, the injuries involved and available insurance coverage.
