One Hospitalized After SUV Overturns in West Palm Beach Crash Near Belvedere Road
A two-car crash in West Palm Beach sent one person to the hospital Sunday evening after an SUV flipped onto its roof near Golden Lakes Boulevard and Belvedere Road, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR).
Firefighters and deputies arrived on the scene around 6 p.m. to find two heavily damaged vehicles in the roadway — one of them, a small SUV, completely overturned. Photos from the scene show the vehicle resting upside down in the middle of the intersection as emergency crews worked to secure the area and direct traffic.
According to officials, both vehicles sustained significant damage in the collision, but fortunately, all occupants were able to exit their vehicles on their own before firefighters arrived.
PBCFR paramedics evaluated the victims at the scene and transported one individual to a nearby hospital with injuries that have not yet been publicly detailed. The identities of those involved have not been released, and it remains unclear what caused the crash.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, including whether speed, distraction, or failure to yield may have been contributing factors.
Rollover collisions like this one are among the most dangerous types of motor vehicle accidents, often resulting in severe or fatal injuries. SUVs, due to their higher center of gravity, are more prone to rolling over than smaller passenger cars when struck at certain angles or during sharp turns.
Common causes of rollover crashes include:
- Excessive speed during turns or lane changes
- Distracted or reckless driving
- Side-impact collisions at intersections
- Overcorrecting steering to avoid obstacles
- Uneven road surfaces or curbs
These accidents frequently result in:
- Traumatic brain injuries (TBI)
- Spinal cord injuries or paralysis
- Broken bones and fractures
- Internal bleeding or organ damage
- Severe lacerations or ejection injuries
Even when victims survive, recovery can require long-term rehabilitation and lead to permanent disabilities or chronic pain.
Liability and Legal Rights After a West Palm Beach Rollover Accident
When a rollover crash occurs, determining fault is critical for pursuing compensation. Depending on the investigation, liability may rest with another driver, or in some cases, with a vehicle manufacturer, tire company, or government entity responsible for maintaining the road.
Victims of serious crashes in Florida may be entitled to compensation for:
- Medical expenses and future care
- Lost wages and loss of earning capacity
- Pain and suffering
- Emotional trauma
- Property damage
- Wrongful death damages (for surviving family members)
Under Florida’s comparative negligence law (§ 768.81, Florida Statutes), you may still recover damages even if you are partially at fault — though your award may be reduced proportionally to your percentage of responsibility.
Because rollover accidents can involve complex physics, injury mechanics, and multiple contributing factors, it’s vital to have an experienced legal team investigate black box data, vehicle design flaws, witness statements, and road conditions to identify every source of liability.
