Multiple Children Injured in Pasco County Crash After Driver Runs Red Light on U.S. 19
A serious crash in Pasco County, Florida on the morning of Wednesday, June 25, 2025, left a driver and six children injured after a vehicle failed to stop at a red light, causing a violent collision and vehicle rollover.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred at approximately 11:37 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 and State Road 52 in Hudson.
- A 33-year-old woman from Hudson was driving a Nissan Cube northbound on U.S. 19 with six children passengers, ranging in age from 5 to 9 years old.
- At the same time, a 42-year-old man, also from Hudson, was driving a Toyota Tacoma southbound on U.S. 19 and attempted to make a left turn onto SR-52 after receiving a green arrow.
- The Nissan Cube ran a red light, entering the intersection and crashing into the Toyota Tacoma during the turn.
The impact of the crash caused the Nissan Cube to overturn, ejecting multiple child passengers onto the roadway. Fortunately, FHP reported that all injuries were non-life-threatening, but every occupant of the Cube was transported to nearby hospitals for medical evaluation and treatment.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma suffered minor injuries but declined transport to the hospital.
The crash forced the closure of portions of U.S. 19 until approximately 1:13 p.m. as emergency crews responded and investigated the scene.
Can the Children’s Families Pursue Legal Action?
Yes. If the children were injured due to another person’s negligence, such as a failure to stop at a red light or improperly secured restraints, their parents or guardians may be able to file personal injury claims on their behalf. These claims could include:
- Medical expenses (including future care for developmental or orthopedic issues)
- Pain and suffering
- Psychological trauma
- Disfigurement or permanent injury
- Rehabilitation costs
If it is determined that the adult driver of the Cube was responsible for the crash due to running the red light, her insurance provider could be responsible for covering damages. However, given the number of victims, policy limits may become an issue.
What Should Victims Do After a Crash Like This?
If you or a loved one were involved in a crash like the one on U.S. 19, here are a few steps to take:
- Seek Immediate Medical Attention – Even if injuries seem minor, it is important to get a full evaluation, especially for children.
- Preserve Evidence – Photographs of the scene, medical records, and witness statements can be essential.
- Avoid Speaking with Insurance Companies Without Counsel – Insurers may try to settle quickly and for less than what your claim is worth.
- Contact a Personal Injury Lawyer – A qualified attorney can help evaluate your claim, determine liability, and ensure you recover the compensation you deserve.
While thankfully no lives were lost in this crash, the physical and emotional trauma endured by these young children and their families is substantial. This incident underscores the importance of driving attentively, obeying traffic signals, and ensuring child passengers are always properly secured.
