Mindbodygreen Recalls Ultimate Multivitamin+ Due to Child Poisoning Risk from Non-Compliant Packaging

Michael T. Flanagan, Esq.

Mindbodygreen has announced a nationwide recall of its Ultimate Multivitamin+ dietary supplement bottles after determining the packaging does not meet mandatory child-resistant safety standards, creating a serious risk of iron poisoning in young children.

The recall, issued on January 29, 2026, involves approximately 148,370 bottles sold online between November 2021 and November 2025.

The recalled product contains iron, a substance that is extremely dangerous if ingested by children. Federal law requires iron-containing supplements to be sold in child-resistant packaging under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA).

According to the recall notice, the Mindbodygreen Ultimate Multivitamin+ bottles failed to comply with this mandatory safety requirement, meaning a child could potentially open the bottle and ingest a lethal amount.

Even a small number of iron capsules can cause:

  • Severe gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Liver failure
  • Metabolic acidosis
  • Coma
  • Death

Iron poisoning is one of the leading causes of fatal pediatric poisoning in the United States.

The recall applies to Mindbodygreen Ultimate Multivitamin+ dietary supplements packaged in:

  • Eight-ounce amber glass bottles
  • Black caps
  • 60 capsules per bottle

The affected products were sold online for $40–$70, depending on subscription status.

Multiple UPC codes, lot numbers, and manufacturing dates are included in the recall, ranging from September 2021 through March 2025.

Consumers are urged to check the UPC and lot number printed on the bottle to determine whether their product is affected.

Mindbodygreen has instructed consumers to:

  1. Immediately secure the recalled bottle out of the sight and reach of children
  2. Contact Mindbodygreen to request a free child-resistant replacement cap
  3. Once secured, continue using the supplement only as directed

As of the recall announcement, no injuries or poisoning incidents have been reported. However, consumer safety experts emphasize that lack of reported injuries does not reduce the seriousness of the hazard.

Recalls involving child poisoning risks are often issued before an injury occurs — particularly when a product violates federal safety laws.

Several entities are involved in the production and distribution of the recalled supplements, including:

  • Mindbodygreen, the distributor (Miami, Florida)
  • Arizona Nutritional Supplements (Chandler, Arizona)
  • VitaQuest (Caldwell, New Jersey)

When a product violates a mandatory safety standard, responsibility may extend to manufacturers, distributors, and sellers, depending on how the defect occurred and who failed to ensure compliance.

If a child suffers iron poisoning, injury, or death due to a non-child-resistant supplement bottle, families may have grounds for a product liability claim, even if a recall has already been issued.

Potential claims may involve:

  • Failure to comply with federal safety regulations
  • Defective packaging design
  • Failure to warn consumers of known risks
  • Negligence in product testing or quality control

Importantly, a recall does not shield a company from liability if harm occurs.

Packaging is not a minor issue — it is a critical safety feature, especially for products marketed to health-conscious families and sold for in-home use.

When child-resistant standards are ignored or improperly implemented, the consequences can be catastrophic.

Parents, caregivers, and consumers should take this recall seriously and immediately secure any affected products. If you or someone you love has been harmed by a recalled supplement or unsafe packaging, speaking with a product liability attorney can help clarify your rights and next steps.

Recalls exist to prevent tragedy — but when safety standards are violated, accountability still matters.
