Multi-vehicle crashes can occur for many reasons, particularly at busy intersections such as those along U.S. Highway 1.
Investigators typically review several factors when determining what caused a serious collision, including:
- Failure to yield the right of way
- Distracted driving
- Speeding or reckless driving
- Traffic signal violations
- Impaired or fatigued driving
Crash reconstruction specialists may also examine vehicle damage, roadway conditions, and witness statements to determine how the collision occurred.
Three-vehicle crashes are often particularly dangerous because the initial collision can trigger a chain reaction involving multiple vehicles.
These types of accidents may involve:
- Secondary impacts after the first collision
- Vehicles being pushed into other lanes of traffic
- Drivers unable to stop in time to avoid the crash
As a result, injuries in multi-vehicle crashes are often severe or fatal.
Legal Options After Fatal Car Accidents
When negligence contributes to a fatal crash, surviving family members may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim under Florida law.
These claims can help families recover damages such as:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Medical costs related to the crash
- Loss of financial support
- Emotional suffering and loss of companionship
Determining liability in multi-vehicle crashes often requires a detailed investigation and analysis of all parties involved.
