A large police presence flooded a busy area of Davie on Tuesday afternoon following a shooting that left at least one person injured near multiple schools, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred in the 4100 block of South University Drive, outside the Aveda Institute, a cosmetology school, and Know-It-All Preparatory School, located next door. Davie Police officers, along with other law enforcement agencies, responded quickly to the scene after reports of gunfire.

Davie Police acknowledged responding to a shooting in the area but stated that they were not searching for any suspects, suggesting there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Davie Fire Rescue officials said one person was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The individual’s condition has not been released.

At the scene, officers closed off part of the Aveda Institute parking lot using crime scene tape as investigators worked to secure and process the area.

Authorities were seen examining a white vehicle at the scene that appeared to have possible bullet holes. Due to the proximity to schools, St. David Catholic School was placed on lockdown as a precaution while law enforcement assessed the situation. The lockdown was part of standard safety procedures during an active police investigation nearby.
