Man Wounded in Overnight Shooting at West Park Strip Club

Michael T. Flanagan, Esq.

Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating a late-night shooting that left one man injured outside a strip club in West Park, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred just before 1:00 a.m. Monday at The Playhouse Gentlemen’s Club, located at 5775 W. Hallandale Beach Boulevard. Deputies responded to reports of gunfire and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene. Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. As of the latest update, officials have not released information about the victim’s identity or condition.

Video from the scene showed crime scene tape and evidence markers scattered throughout the parking lot, indicating an active forensic investigation. Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Carey Codd confirmed that detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

“At this time, the investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing,” Codd said in a statement Monday morning.

Authorities have not yet said whether the shooting occurred inside or outside the club, what may have led up to the incident, or whether any suspects have been identified. Investigators are expected to review surveillance footage, interview witnesses, and examine physical evidence from the scene.

Anyone with information related to the shooting is urged to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477. Tipsters may remain anonymous.

Victims of shootings and other violent crimes may face significant physical, emotional, and financial challenges long after the incident. In addition to criminal investigations, injured victims may have civil legal options, depending on the circumstances. These can include claims related to negligent security if a business failed to take reasonable steps to protect patrons, such as providing adequate lighting, security personnel, or surveillance in high-risk environments.

Florida law allows injured victims to pursue compensation for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and future care needs when another party’s negligence contributed to their injuries. In some cases, property owners or operators may be held accountable if foreseeable criminal activity was not properly addressed.

As the investigation into this West Park shooting continues, additional details may emerge. Anyone affected by this incident or a similar act of violence may benefit from speaking with an experienced attorney to better understand their rights and potential paths to recovery.
