JSO Investigates After Man Found Shot in the Face at Jacksonville Apartment Complex
Authorities with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) are investigating after a man was found shot in the face Thursday night at an apartment complex in the Woodland Acres area of Jacksonville.
According to police, officers responded around 7:20 p.m. to the 8200 block of Kona Avenue, where they found the man standing outside a building within the complex suffering from a gunshot wound.
JSO said the victim provided conflicting statements about where the shooting occurred. Initially, he claimed that he was shot in the complex’s parking lot by an unknown individual. However, detectives canvassed the parking area and surrounding property but were unable to find any evidence of a shooting scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover. Police have not released his name or provided an update on his condition.
At this time, authorities say there is no description of the shooter and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Investigators are working to determine the exact location and motive behind the shooting.
JSO is asking for the public’s assistance as they continue their investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Woodland Acres neighborhood Thursday night—or who has surveillance footage from nearby homes or businesses—is encouraged to come forward.
