- Failure to yield the right of way
- Misjudging the speed or distance of oncoming traffic
- Limited visibility at intersections
Left-turn accidents, in particular, can lead to severe impacts because drivers must cross opposing lanes of traffic.
Common Causes of Left-Turn Collisions
While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, left-turn crashes are frequently associated with:
- Drivers turning without a clear gap in traffic
- Speeding or approaching vehicles
- Distracted driving
- Poor lighting or visibility at night
Legal Considerations
In intersection crashes, investigators typically evaluate:
- Which driver had the right of way
- Whether traffic signals or signage were followed
- Driver speed and attentiveness
- Road and lighting conditions
Liability will depend on the findings of the investigation.
