The August 13, 2026 collision shut down multiple southbound lanes and caused significant traffic delays while firefighters, paramedics and Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred Thursday night in the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike between Commercial Boulevard and Sunrise Boulevard.

Emergency crews closed three southbound lanes while responding to the collision and treating the injured.

Four people were transported to area hospitals. Authorities said one of the patients was transported as a trauma alert, indicating potentially serious injuries.
