Four Injured After Construction Crane Collapses Onto Car in Miami’s Brickell Neighborhood

Four people were hospitalized Monday morning after an 85-foot construction crane toppled at a site in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, crushing vehicles, trapping two construction workers and causing a car to catch fire.

The September 14, 2026 collapse occurred shortly after 8 a.m., according to Miami fire officials.

A woman driving next to the construction site reportedly saw the crane beginning to fall and attempted to reverse her vehicle before escaping from the car as it caught fire. She suffered minor injuries.

The falling equipment also landed on a storage container where two construction workers were located. Emergency crews extricated both workers. The crane operator reportedly jumped from the equipment as it began tipping over.

The two trapped workers and crane operator were transported to a trauma center with minor injuries, while the woman was taken to a separate hospital.

Officials said everyone at the construction site was accounted for.

The cause of the crane collapse remains under investigation.

The collapse involved an approximately 85-foot piling rig being used at a construction site in Brickell.

At the construction site, the equipment fell onto a storage container occupied by two workers, trapping them inside.

Miami’s technical rescue crews cut through the container and successfully removed both workers.

Crane Operator Reportedly Jumped From Equipment as It Tipped

The crane operator was also injured.

According to fire officials, the operator managed to jump from the equipment as it began tipping over.

The operator and two workers who had been trapped in the storage container were transported to a nearby trauma center. Their injuries were described as minor.

The woman whose vehicle was struck also suffered minor injuries and was transported to another hospital.
