The Dangers of Intersection Collisions

Crashes at intersections are among the most common types of motor vehicle accidents and can often result in serious or fatal injuries.

Common contributing factors include:

  • Failure to yield the right of way
  • Running red lights or stop signs
  • Distracted driving
  • Speeding or aggressive driving

Even routine intersections can become dangerous when drivers fail to exercise caution.

Determining fault in a two-vehicle crash typically requires a thorough investigation into the actions of each driver.

Key factors may include:

  • Traffic signals and right-of-way
  • Speed and driver attentiveness
  • Eyewitness accounts
  • Physical evidence from the crash scene

Liability may depend on which driver failed to follow traffic laws or acted negligently.

Wrongful Death Claims Under Florida Law

Under Florida’s Wrongful Death Act, Florida Statutes §§ 768.16–768.26, surviving family members may have the right to pursue compensation if negligence contributed to the fatal crash.

Damages may include:

  • Funeral and burial expenses
  • Loss of financial support
  • Loss of companionship and protection
  • Mental pain and suffering

Even when details are limited, families may still have legal options.

Investigation Ongoing

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash and determine what led to the collision.
