Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Northwest Miami-Dade Leaves 67-Year-Old Pedestrian Dead
A tragic hit-and-run accident in Northwest Miami-Dade has claimed the life of a 67-year-old man, prompting a police investigation and renewed calls for witnesses to come forward.
The crash occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday near the intersection of Northwest 7th Avenue and 95th Street. According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the victim, later identified as Samuel Singletary Jr., was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle. Authorities said the driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the injured man in the roadway.
Emergency personnel from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded quickly, transporting Singletary to a local hospital. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries.
A mangled bicycle and a white van were seen at the crash site, with debris strewn across the street. A witness told 7News that a dark-colored, older model sedan hit the man on the bicycle and continued driving without stopping. Another bystander reportedly attempted to follow the fleeing vehicle to capture the license plate, but was unsuccessful.
A good Samaritan at the scene used their van to shield Singletary from oncoming traffic as he lay critically injured on the median.
Police are actively searching for a dark-grey sedan believed to have been involved in the crash. No arrests have been made, and investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.
If you saw anything or have knowledge of the incident, contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
