A 54-year-old man has been arrested after police say an ongoing road rage confrontation contributed to a violent four-vehicle crash in Port St. Lucie that left several people injured, including a motorcyclist who suffered serious injuries.

The collision occurred Wednesday evening on U.S. Highway 1 and involved a motorcycle, two pickup trucks, and an SUV, according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department.

Investigators said a red Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a black Ford Super Duty pickup truck were traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 1 while allegedly involved in an ongoing road rage confrontation.

Police identified the Ford driver as 54-year-old Kevin Lonergan.

Two occupants of the Toyota RAV4 were also transported to Lawnwood Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was taken to St. Lucie Medical Center.
