Deputy Apparently Injured in Florida’s Turnpike Crash in Miami-Dade

A deputy was apparently injured Tuesday afternoon in a major crash on Florida’s Turnpike in Miami-Dade County.

The September 1, 2026 collision occurred in the northbound lanes near Northwest 41st Street. Aerial footage showed what appeared to be a heavily damaged patrol SUV, a damaged dark-colored sedan and an armored Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team vehicle at the scene.

At least one person was seen being taken away on a gurney.

What Happened in the Florida’s Turnpike Crash?

The crash was reported Tuesday afternoon on northbound Florida’s Turnpike near Northwest 41st Street.

Aerial footage from NBC6 showed a white SUV that appeared to be a law enforcement patrol vehicle with significant damage.

A dark sedan also appeared to be damaged in the middle of the highway.

An armored Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team vehicle was present at the scene, although authorities had not explained whether that vehicle was involved in the collision or had responded afterward.

One person was seen being transported from the scene on a gurney.

Multiple northbound lanes were blocked while emergency crews worked at the scene, with some traffic moving past on the shoulder.

Was a Miami-Dade Deputy Injured?

Initial reporting indicated that a deputy was apparently injured, but authorities had not yet released official details about the person’s condition.

It was also not immediately clear whether the deputy was driving the damaged patrol SUV, whether anyone in the sedan was injured or how many people were involved in the crash.

What Caused the Turnpike Crash?

In many negligence actions, a person found to be more than 50% responsible for their own harm cannot recover damages, while someone who is 50% or less responsible may have damages reduced based on their percentage of fault.

Whether comparative negligence has any role in this crash will depend on facts that have not yet been released.
