Crash With Injuries on I-95 South in Boca Raton Closes Express Lanes During Morning Commute

Michael T. Flanagan, Esq.

A crash involving injuries caused significant disruptions for drivers traveling through Boca Raton early Monday morning after the express lanes of Interstate 95 were shut down.

According to Florida Highway Patrol and Florida 511, the crash occurred on southbound Interstate 95 near the Glades Road exit.

Authorities reported the incident shortly before the morning rush hour.

Traffic officials reported the crash at approximately 5:46 a.m. near Exit 45 at Glades Road in Boca Raton.

Initial reports indicated that the collision involved injuries, though officials have not yet released details about how many vehicles were involved or the number of people hurt.

Shortly after the crash was reported, traffic officials confirmed that all express lanes of southbound Interstate 95 in the area were closed to allow emergency crews to respond and investigate the scene.

The closure caused delays for commuters traveling through Palm Beach County during the early morning commute.

Authorities have not yet released additional information about the circumstances of the crash.

Highway crashes and morning traffic risks

Major highways such as Interstate 95 often experience heavy congestion during early morning commuting hours. Increased traffic volume, high speeds, and sudden lane changes can all contribute to crashes on busy interstate corridors.

Common causes of highway collisions include distracted driving, following vehicles too closely, speeding, and driver fatigue. Congestion near major exits can also increase the risk of crashes when drivers slow suddenly or attempt last-minute lane changes.

Express lanes may present additional challenges for drivers because traffic tends to move faster and merging opportunities are limited.

When crashes occur on interstate highways, emergency responders must often close lanes to safely assist victims, remove damaged vehicles, and document the crash scene.

When a crash results in injuries, investigators typically work to determine whether negligence contributed to the collision. Liability in motor vehicle accidents may depend on factors such as driver behavior, traffic conditions, and whether traffic laws were violated.

Potentially responsible parties in highway crashes may include drivers who were speeding, distracted, impaired, or following other vehicles too closely. In some cases, additional liability may involve commercial vehicle operators, employers of drivers involved in the crash, or other parties responsible for vehicle maintenance or roadway conditions.

Individuals injured in car accidents may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, rehabilitation costs, and pain and suffering. In more serious cases involving long-term injuries, victims may also pursue compensation for future medical care and permanent disability.

Understanding the cause of a crash and identifying all responsible parties is an important step in protecting the rights of injured victims.

Investigation ongoing

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash that occurred on Interstate 95 South near the Glades Road exit in Boca Raton.

Authorities have not yet released additional details about the injuries involved or what caused the collision.

Motorists traveling through the area were advised to expect delays while crews worked to clear the roadway and reopen the affected lanes.
