A 9-year-old boy was killed and a 13-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries Monday afternoon after a gas-powered dirt bike collided with a FedEx delivery truck in Fort Pierce, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. on July 20, 2026, near 606 East Midway Road in Fort Pierce.

• A ProTaper gas-powered dirt bike was traveling eastbound on the north-side sidewalk of East Midway Road.
• A 9-year-old boy was operating the dirt bike.
• A 13-year-old boy was riding as a passenger.
• A FedEx delivery truck, driven by a 53-year-old man, was exiting the driveway of a residence or business onto the sidewalk after completing a delivery.

According to the preliminary crash report, the FedEx truck came to a stop on the sidewalk before the front of the dirt bike collided with the truck’s front right bumper.

The 9-year-old driver was transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The 13-year-old passenger sustained incapacitating injuries and was also transported to Lawnwood Hospital for treatment.

The FedEx driver was not injured.
