4 Hospitalized After Two Cars Crash Into Front Yard of North Miami Home: Legal Options
A violent crash in North Miami sent four people to the hospital Friday afternoon after two vehicles slammed through a residential front yard near Northwest 10th Avenue and 125th Street. The impact shook the neighborhood — and the longtime homeowner says this is far from the first time such an incident has happened outside his front door.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene around midday. Initial reports indicated a possible pedestrian strike, though officials later clarified that the incident involved two vehicles that collided and plowed into a home’s yard.
Key details:
- Two cars crashed into the front yard gate of the home
- Four people were transported to local trauma centers
- The nature and severity of their injuries have not yet been released
- The cause of the crash is still unknown, and police have not confirmed whether speeding, reckless driving, impairment, or failure to obey traffic signs played a role
Aerial footage from Chopper6 showed both vehicles severely damaged, one coming to rest against the home’s fence.
The homeowner, Lousi Lubin, told NBC6 the sound was explosive:
“It was a boom, it was a boom.”
Lubin said one car stopped at his gate while the other came further into the yard, bending metal and damaging property.
Shockingly, he added this has not only happened before — but multiple times over the years.
“I’ve been living in that house since 1981, and I can’t tell you how many times they got my fence… One day, a pickup truck stopped right under my window.”
Lubin estimates six or seven crashes have damaged his property over the decades. He previously raised concerns with the city, prompting the installation of additional stop signs at the intersection. Still, the problem persists.
Even with added traffic controls, some intersections remain dangerous due to:
- High-speed traffic patterns
- Poor visibility
- Driver distraction
- Failure to stop at posted signs
- Inadequate roadway design
- Cut-through traffic in residential areas
When crashes repeatedly occur at the same location, it often signals that deeper safety issues may exist — including potential municipal negligence in roadway design, signage, or maintenance.
Legal Options for Injured Victims and Homeowners
Accidents like this raise serious legal questions for both the victims and the property owner.
Injured Drivers, Pedestrians, and Passengers
If you were one of the individuals hospitalized, you may be able to pursue compensation for:
- Medical expenses
- Lost income
- Future rehabilitation
- Pain and suffering
Liability may fall on:
- The at-fault driver
- The vehicle owner
- A municipality (if intersection design or signage contributed to recurring dangers)
Homeowners Impacted by Repeated Crashes
Property owners like Lubin may have claims for:
- Property damage
- Diminished home value
- Emotional distress
- Negligent roadway maintenance or design (when applicable)
When a home becomes a repeated crash site, additional legal remedies may exist — especially if the city has been alerted and the danger continues.
