What We Know About the Crash
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 12:23 a.m. on July 10, 2026, on northbound Interstate 75 near mile marker 215 in Manatee County.
Investigators reported that:
- A 22-year-old Bradenton man was driving a 2025 Hyundai Kona northbound on I-75.

The driver of the Honda, a 22-year-old woman from Parrish, and her 24-year-old passenger from Bradenton both sustained minor injuries.
Investigation Underway
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate what caused the crash.
Investigators will likely examine several factors, including:
- Vehicle speed.
- Following distance between the vehicles.
- Driver distraction.
- Fatigue.
- Possible impairment.
- Mechanical issues.
- Physical evidence collected from the scene.
Authorities have not announced whether any citations or criminal charges are expected.
Rear-End Collisions Can Become Deadly at Highway Speeds
Rear-end crashes on interstate highways can quickly become fatal, especially when the striking vehicle leaves the roadway after impact.
Drivers should maintain a safe following distance and remain attentive to changing traffic conditions, particularly when traveling at highway speeds where reaction times are reduced.
Florida Laws That May Apply
Because the investigation remains active, no determination of fault has been made.
Depending on the evidence, investigators may evaluate compliance with several Florida traffic laws, including:
- Florida Statute §316.0895, requiring drivers to maintain a reasonable and prudent following distance.
- Florida Statute §316.183, requiring motorists to operate at a speed that is reasonable and prudent for existing conditions.
- Florida Statute §316.1925, governing careless driving if supported by the evidence.
Any conclusions regarding fault will depend on the outcome of the Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation.
Potential Legal Considerations
When a fatal crash occurs, investigators determine whether negligence, roadway conditions, mechanical failures, or other factors contributed to the collision.
If another party’s negligence or a defective vehicle component played a role in the crash, surviving family members may have legal rights under Florida’s Wrongful Death Act (Florida Statutes §§768.16–768.26).
Whether any civil claim exists will depend on the facts established during the investigation.
Investigation Continues
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal crash on Interstate 75 in Manatee County.
Additional information may be released as investigators complete their review.
