1 Dead, 3 Hospitalized After Overnight Three-Car Crash in Miami-Dade County
A tragic three-vehicle crash in Miami-Dade County late Friday night left one driver dead and three others hospitalized, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO). Deputies responded to the collision around 11:11 p.m. near the intersection of Northwest 62nd Avenue and 12th Street, where multiple heavily damaged vehicles and injured victims were located.
When first responders arrived, they discovered that three vehicles were involved in the wreck. According to MDSO, four individuals were transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to Kendall HCA Hospital. Tragically, one of the drivers later died from their injuries.
The other three individuals remain hospitalized in stable condition.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased driver, and the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation. No information has been shared regarding whether speed, impairment, or traffic violations played a role in the collision.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office reports that the investigation remains active.
Major intersections and high-traffic corridors in Miami-Dade County are frequent sites of serious and fatal accidents. Multi-vehicle collisions in particular can cause devastating injuries due to:
- High-speed impacts
- Chain-reaction crashes
- Distracted or impaired driving
- Failure to yield or reckless driving
- Congested nighttime traffic
When multiple cars are involved, determining fault can become highly complex and often requires accident reconstruction, witness interviews, and review of available surveillance or traffic-camera footage.
Legal Options for Families After a Fatal Car Accident
If a loved one is killed in a car crash in Miami-Dade County, surviving family members may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim under Florida Statutes § 768.16 – 768.21, also known as the Florida Wrongful Death Act. Compensation may be available for:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Loss of financial support and services
- Loss of companionship and protection
- Mental and emotional pain and suffering
- Medical expenses if the victim received treatment before passing
Because multi-vehicle accidents often involve disputes between multiple insurance companies, a thorough investigation is critical to preserve evidence and protect the family’s rights.
Injured Victims May Also Be Entitled to Compensation
The three individuals hospitalized in this crash may have legal options as well. Injured victims can pursue personal injury claims for:
- Medical expenses
- Lost wages
- Pain and suffering
- Vehicle damage
- Long-term or permanent disability
A personal injury attorney can help determine liability, deal with insurers, and ensure victims receive the compensation they need to recover.
